During the panicked retreat, no one had noticed that Trevor had gotten stuck. The rest of the group was running wildly down the mountain, but he had tripped along the way and got his pant leg caught on a tree branch. This resulted in Trevor dangling upside down, unable to free himself.
He knew that the enemy would be coming over the top of the mountain any second, but still he was unable to break free. Since he was hanging over the side of a cliff, such a move was unwise anyway. Trevor resolved that he would be taken as a prisoner of war. Then, however, a bright light engulfed his field of vision and a Roku 2 XS came into view.
“Not you!” Trevor yelled. “Anyone but you!”
The Roku was no stranger to Trevor. Just two years prior, it had turned him over to the control of the enemy only days after gaining his trust. Its appearance was strange, but given the circumstances not entirely unwelcome. The Roku worked quickly to free Trevor from the tree and assist his run to safety.
“I am,” the Roku said to him. “Misunderstood.”
Trevor thought about it for a second, but ultimately smashed it into as many tiny pieces as he could. Forgiveness was not something Trevor practiced. Ever.
