I couldn’t see because the van I was in didn’t have any windows. The only people that could see were the driver and the supervisor. The cameramen and I were in the back, oblivious to our location but required to be ready at a moment’s notice to capture the news.

We were going to pull the van up next to them and get out and film them receiving the bracelet. It was going to be television gold. When the tires screeched and the van stopped, I knew we only had seconds to present the prize. I donned my mask and kicked open the back doors. As the sunlight hit my face, I saw the target; she was hysterical … probably because she was about to win an awesome bracelet.
“You there, stop!” I said as she turned to run away from us.
It took a minute, but we finally got her ready to win her prize.
“You’re the lucky winner of the Swarovski Elements 5-Tier Crystal Bracelet. How do you feel?”
“I … won a bracelet?” she asked, lowering her guard.
“Yes, how do you feel?”
“I feel relieved! I thought I was being kidnapped!”
“Kidnapped?” I repeated. This was all on videotape for the nightly news; we couldn’t have someone thinking they were being kidnapped by us. I then told the girl I was sorry but we would have to give the bracelet to someone else as a result. She ran away but it didn’t make any sense to run after her that time.
