I couldn’t wait to see my prize.
An unexpected phone call changed everything. I was on the couch with a bag of potato chips, an all-around normal situation, when the phone rang and my life as I knew it was over.

“Can I please speak with Mr. Intestine?” a woman said when I answered.

“It’s actually pronounced In-tes-tea-nay,” I replied.

“My mistake. This is Janine calling from The Big Spin to inform you that your name was picked and we would like you to come on the show!”

The Big Spin, as everyone knows, is the game show on which you get to spin a wheel and win one of many fabulous prizes. Of course, I was ecstatic to be on the show.

When my big day rolled around, I could barely contain myself. The wheel on The Big Spin was bigger than it seemed on television. You could only see a few at a time since the wheel was only partially exposed, but the prizes there looked amazing. There was a trip for 3 to Easter Island, a Mr. Beer Premium Edition 2 Gallon Reusable Home Beer Brewing Kit and $10,000 cash.

It was practically an out-of-body experience as the theatrics of the show got the audience ready for my spin. At Frank Gall’s beckoning, I walked out to the stage and grabbed the wheel. Nearly falling over from the strength of the spin, I backed up a few paced and watched it go round and round. As the rotation slowed, I was able to make out a few more prizes: horses, cars, a Fortune 500 company, etc.

The wheel finally came to a stop on a strange pink circular icon; I wasn’t sure what it meant. Bonus spin? Pick your prize? It could be anything! I was confused, but still excited.
