Diane, 2:36 PM, November 12th ...
Entering the city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This marks my first return to the city since the incident with Caroline, of which further explanation is, I'm sure we both agree, unnecessary. I'm traveling on Interstate Highway 376, which I can take all the way into Oakland. There are 77,422 miles on the odometer, gas at about a quarter of a tank. Depending on the length of my stay, this could be enough to get me around town, but my experience tells me I need to fill the tank as soon as I get in.
Along the way I stopped for coffee at Tom's Diner, on US-19 over by the railway...that was $5.37 after tax for a cup of coffee and a slice of cherry pie; damn good cup of jo, Diane, I recommend it if you make it out here sometime. Incident here is a young college girl found dead and wrapped in plastic somewhere in … hang on … Schenley Park. Another would-be victim was discovered barely conscious walking in nearby Frick Park.
I'm going to be meeting up with a Maurita Bryant, the Assistant Chief of Police, heading investigations. We're going to meet at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center where the second girl is currently being held. In an extra effort to maintain punctuality, I have purchased a Lava Faceless LED Stainless Steel Digital Watch and thus far it has exceeded my expectations. Once I get in I'm sure the Assistant Chief will be able to recommend a clean place, reasonably priced. That's what I need: a clean place, reasonably priced.
