It was one problem after another.
The weatherman predicted rain...he was wrong. Rather than lay in anguish over the misprediction of foul weather, Drew and I decided to hike up to Green Mountain with another friend. At the top we pranced around, giving reverence to the powers of Green Mountain while we listened to ambient drone metal. The higher elevation led to some dizziness which caused our other friend to leave and me to take a short break. Suddenly, Drew ran over to where I was sitting down.
“Dude, did you know Green Mountain was an active volcano?” he said, panicked.
“No,” I responded plainly, a stark contrast to the concern of my friend.
“Well it is! And it's erupting!”
I took a look behind him and saw that he was right, lava was flowing down the mountain straight towards us. Smoke billowed out the top as we turned to run. The lava nearly reaching our feet, it was a terrifying experience; yet harder we ran.
“Oh God!” Drew yelled to me. “This running is making me so hungry!”
“I know!” I shouted in agreement, trying not to take my eyes off the path ahead of me. “I want pizza so bad!”
Before we knew it, our lives were in danger. If we didn't get pizza soon, surely we would die of starvation. It was truly a horrifying realization to find that you're on the brink of death and that the nearest pizza place might not even be open. Still, we had no choice but to move onward. It was either that or just die.
I whipped out my Apple iPhone 3GS and called a nearby pizza shop. It rang once...twice...three times.
“Dude, that isn't working!” Drew said between loud pants. He was right.
After perilous turn after perilous turn, fighting the onset of starvation by lack of pizza, we made it to an open shop. Breathless, we used the last of our strength to open the door and order a few slices. Smiles slowly formed on our faces as we realized we had made it. We had conquered the dangers of Green Mountain and gotten out pizza. We turned around towards the seating area and saw the Bearded Dinosaur Man. We smiled and waved.
“'Sup guys?” he said behind his mountain of pizza.
